A Novel External Fixator Hinge

This project is one which is very important to me as an engineer. Often times as engineers we deisgn and build things for our own lesiure or comfort. But seldom do we think of animals, and thats exaclty what this poject was about. This is a device I had the priviledge of  engineering in my senior design class with a team of 3 students to help correct for bone deformities in dogs. We worked with Dr. Marcellin-Little a veterinary surgeon at the UC Davis Vet-Med center. He has performed several surgeries to correct for bone deformities in dogs and had a set of needs and metrics he wanted in a device to better correct deformities. Working with Dr. Marcellin-Little we were able to design, simulate, machine, and test the novel external fixator hinge. The hinge performed very well in testing surpassed all requirements set for it.
